SENATE APPEALS BOARD
The Senate Appeals Board have requested that a change be made in the
provision of alternates for members of the Senate Appeals Board.
The Senate Undergraduate Admissions Board at a meeting on Friday,
November 12th, unanimously approved the following proposal for changing
the alternate system of the Senate Appeals Board, and ask that-Senate
also approve it.

CHANGES
1. That the two faculty alternates not be specific alternates, but that either
of the alternates be able to substitute for either of the prime faculty
members.

2. That an additional student alternate be provided, and that either of
the alternates be able to substitute for either of the prime student
members.
RATIONALE
The aim of the recommended changes is to increase the flexibility of the
alternate system of the Board, and to give the student members the same
number of alternates as the faculty members.
It has been found that the Board operates better with a full complement of
four voting members, and the changes will help achieve a full complement
more frequently.
