"Course grades at the end of a semester are not to be
released until approved by the Committee on Admissions and
Standings.

released by instructors at the end of semester.

cation -- lists should not be posted'."

The present regulation is ignored by many faculty and is
unknown to many others. It appears that the posting of
grades by number and the verbal release of grades are standard
practices.
One of the problems with the rule, as it exists, is that by
the time the transcripts are released, the teaching assistant
and/or faculty member may be beginning an off-semester and
unavailable for queries or appeals.
In effect, the elimination of this rule would serve merely to
legitimize present practices. Further, the overview of trans-
cripts by the S.U.A.B. is not affected by this course of action.
The S.U.A.B. reviews only transcripts of students on probation,
RTW and P.W.
