The Senate Nominating Committee has submitted its report for
election of Senators to the Board of Governors. This election will be
held by Senate at its meeting of Monday, January 11, 1971.
Under Senate regulations, any Senator who wishes to add nominations
may do so by notifying the Secretary of Senate in writing of such nom-
inations, to reach his office no later than Friday, January 8, 1971.
Nominations received after that time, and nominations from the floor,
cannot be accepted.
If a nomination is made, the Senator making the nomination must
ensure in advance that the nominee is willing to stand for election.

ELECTION OF SENATORS TO THE BOARD OF GOVERNORS
Election of three members from Senate to replace M. Collins,
A.F.C. Hean and J. K. Kenward for the remainder of their terms of
office to May 31, 1972.
The Senate Nominating Committee has submitted the following names
as candidates for this election:
G. D. BAS}LAN
R. W. CLARIDGE
G. A. SUTHERLAND
Names of other Senators have been submitted by individual Senators
and these, together with any additional names received no later than
Friday, January 8, 1971, will be placed before Senate at its meeting
of January 11, 1971.
NOTE: Excerpts from Section 20, Sub-section 1 and 2 of the Universities
Act, 1963, relating to persons not eligible to be members of
the Board, are attached for your information.

Section 20 (1)
The following persons are not eligible to he members of the
Board: -
a)
Members of the Parliament of Canada;
b)
Members of Executive Council or of the Legislative Assembly;
c)
Members of the Board of Governors of any other University;
d)
Other than the President, any appointee of the Board who
receives remuneration from the University;
e)
Any employee in the service of the Department of Education
or principal or teacher of any school;
f)
A person who resides outside the Province;
g)
A person who has not attained the age of twenty-one years.
(2)
If a
member of the Board accepts any of the positions referred
to in subsection (1), other than that of President, he ceases to be a
member of the Board, and a declaration of the vacancy entered in the
minutes of the Board is conclusive evidence thereof.
