To ?
Mr. H. Evans,
?
From ?
S. T. Stratton,
Secretary of Senate ?
Acting Dean of Education
Subject... Request for Senate Action
?
Date ?
November. 27th, 1970
Would you please place-before Senate the following motion from the
Faculty of Education:
That Senate approve that for those students who fulfilled
requirements for Education 403-0, that the requirements
for the B. Ed. degree be Education 403-0 and 135 semester
hours of appropriate course work. Such work must include
Education 401, 402 and 404 and must fulfill all current
requirements for the B. Ed. including requirements for a
minor.

?
Justification:
Students previously enrolled at this university who have not completed
degree requirements should he given the option of fulfilling degree
requirements either under the calendar at their time of entry to the
university, or under current regulations. As the structure of the
B. Ed. degree was modified to permit students to complete degree
requirements in 10 semesters (Senate December 9, 1968, and March 3,
1969) by renaming Education 403-0 to Education 405-15 and by permitting
Education 405-15 towards the requirement of 150 semester hours,
students who completed Education 403-0 who now wish to complete their
B. Ed. degree requirements are placed in an inequitous position with those
students completing their degree under the new regulations. By modifying
the degree requirements as identified in the motion, these students would
be able to complete their degree in the 10 semesters expected under the
present degree requirements.
The above motion has been approved by all appropriate Centre and Faculty
Committees and by the Faculty at its Meeting of November 23rd, 1970.
