Degree Requirements
?
.Date ?
August 9, 1972.
When Senate established the General Studies degree it
approved a calendar statement which states
"Courses taken from any of the existing Faculties
may be used to satisfy the requirements for
the degree ....." (page 269).
This has led to considerable confusion among students enrolled in
the Professional Development Centre as to whether the professional
courses Ed. 401-8, 402-7, and 405-15 can be used for credit toward the
120 hour requirement for the B.G.S. degree.
?
?
The confusion arises because these courses are not credited
towards the degree requirements in the Faculties of Arts and Science.
Moreover, the Faculty of Education itself requires 120 hours of academic
courses in addition to the 30 hours represented by these professional courses.
To alleviate this confusion, I recommend that Senate approve
the following Calendar revision:
"With the exception of Ed. 401-8, 402-7 and 405-15,
courses taken from any of the existing faculties may be
used to satisfy the requirements for the degree .....
