FACULTY
OF ARTS
GENERAL SECTION
Editorial changes to provide more clarity in
stating existing regulations have been included
throughout the calendar entry.
P. 65.
?
The only significant change is on page 65 of the
current calendar, item 2 of the upper levels
requirements for both the general program and the
honors program. The regulation as it is now
stated reads as follows:
"At least 15 credit hours must be in
upper and/or lower division courses
outside the major subject area.
This
requirement does not apply in those cases
where a student is enrolled in an approved
double major or major/minor program."
?
The wording as shown in italics above was meant
to make clear to the student that he would not
have to complete an additional 15 "outside"
hours over and above the required hours for each
of the major subjects in a double major program,
or in addition to the major and minor requirements
if in a major/minor program.
?
This is not being
understood by students reading this regulation
as presently stated. The proposed change in word-
ing does not alter the regulation, but will hope-
fully make the application of this rule more
easily understood by students who are pursuing a
double major or major/minor program. The proposed
wording is as follows:
.............
?
•This
requirement is automatically fulfilled when a
student completes requirements for or approved
double major or major/minor program.
