MOTION
"That Senate approve, as set forth in
S74-169, the extension of the term of
office as a member of the Academic Board
of B. Wilson to December 31, 1974 or
shortly thereafter if required."
0

The Academic Board was constituted under the former
Universities' Act, but there is not continuation of this body under
the new act which became effective July 1974. In view of this no
steps were taken to elect a new member to the Board thisyear.
The attached letter from the Secretary of that Board
indicates a desire for continued membership to December 31, 1974 or
shortly thereafter.
In, view of the brief remaining period it sums unnecessary
to call for nominations from the nominating committee and formal vote by
Senate but this shall be done if Senats so instructs.
It is recommended that ther term of B. Wilson be extended
to December 31, 1974 or shortly thereafter if required.

Mr. Harry Evans.
Secretary of Senate,
Simon Fraser University,
Burnaby B.C.
Dear Mr. Evans,
I am writing on the matter of SFU representation on the
Academic Board.
As you may recall, the current term of Dr. Brian Wilson
expired in September last. In view of the fact that the Academic Board
will continue until December 31, 1974 and may even extend for a short
period beyond that date, it would seem appropriate for the Senate of the
University to express its wish on representation for the period concerned.
The next meeting of the Board is scheduled for mid-November
and I would appreciate receiving formal notification from you before then,
if at all possible.
Yours sincerely,
&
