M. A.
Change in Admission Requirements:
?
From
Program
"Candidatesi for the M.A. degree must satisfy
the minimum entrance requirements set by the

or its equivalent."
to "Candidates for the M.A. degree must
satisfy the minimum entrance requirements
set by the University; namely, at least a
3.0 average or its equivalent. In addition,
the Department requires a
3.25
average or
its equivalent in the Major Subject over the
last two years of the Undergraduate Program."
Rationale:
This change, is in part, a response to comments
by the Departmental Reviewers and, in part,
• ?
an effort to make clear to applicants the
criteria by which they will be judged. The
departmental Graduate Studies Corr'mittee
has, as a rule, not admitted students with
less than a 3.25 average and the present
statement in the calendar encourages appli-
cations which are unlikely to be successful.

.
?
in
line
with university regulations (refer to
sub-section 7.1 (b) of the Graduate Studi.e
General Regulations).
