Chem O05.. Offering ?

Chem 005-3 has been approved by Senate for an initial Fall offering 1975.
I wish to advance the teaching of this course by one semester and to
schedule the offering for the first time in the Summer Semester 1975 in
place of the Fall Semester 1975.
The following comments are pertinent in this regard.
1.
Dr.
W.R. Richards is that faculty member who would be best suited
to teach this course for its first offering, and he will be teaching
in
the Summer Semester 1975 with the Fall Semester being a research
semester. This scheduling will enable him to teach Biochem 420 for
the Summer Semester and therefore from a scheduling point of view
it would be ideal to move the 005 offering from the fall to the summer.
2.
Because of the involvement of Dr. Benston
in
the Computing Science
program for this year, we are only offering one 00 course, namely
007, (the laboratory cours,in the three semesters, Fall 74, Spring 75
and Summer 75. During this academic period there is an untapped
clientele for whom an offering could be advantageous if it were
possible to mount a course. The mounting of Chem 005 during the
Summer 1975 would at least in part fulfil this objective.
3.
We will be able to schedule a 00 course, namely Chem 001, in the
Fall Semester 1975 and thus there will be an alternative offering
to satisfy those students wishing to take this type of course during
the 75-76 academic year.
Given the above I would be grateful if you would deal with the above
request through the appropriate channels as soon as possible.
The Department Undergraduate Studies Committee has approved the re-
scheduling as I have outlined.
