At its meeting of 12th November, the Senate Committee
on Undergraduate Studies discussed the attached proposal that a
course given under the Special Topics rubric in the Faculty of
Education will normally be offered no more than twice. This
proposal is now forwarded to Senate for its consideration, with
the Committee's recommendation that it be approved.

Motion:
that the Faculty of Education establish Policy with respect to
the number of times Special Topics courses should be offered, specifically
that a.Special Topic will normally be offered no more than twice
by the Faculty of Education. Policy to take effect in 1975 Fall
Semester.
RATIONALE:
Special Topics in the Faculty of Education offerings are viewed as
• ?
"Special" rather than as regular offerings. If a Special Topic has
been given once and is seen to have potential as a regular offering,
a "New Course Proposal" is made to the
Undergraduate
Programs Committee
of the Faculty. The subject is not offered more than twice as a Special
Topic.
