At its meeting of 17ti December, 1974,
the
Senate Cctrznittee
on Undergraduate Studies discussed the attached proposal for changes in the
Calendar to:, i) specific minor in elementary school physical education;
ii) minor in early childhood education; and iii) minor in learning
disabilities.. This proposal is now forwarded to Senate for its consider-
ation, with the Camiittee

Rationale for Kinesiology Changes and Additions
A revised Kinesiology Program was approved by Senate in 1974 (S. 74-53).
The Kinesiology changes propoèed in the three Faculty of Education specific
Minors reflect the changes in the Kinesiology Program as approved by
Senate. The Kinesiology additions proposed have the effect of increasing
the Recommended Kinesiology options available to students wishing to qualify
for a specific Minor.

The attached amendments to the calendar description for the Minor in Learning
Disabilities are primarily intended to serve an informational function for
students; and to 3oclzTnt aspects of the Minor that are operationally in
effect. ?

The general description of the Minor has been expanded to specify the actual
connection between the Minor and the
professional
EvelopTent Program.
A number of recommended courses have been added.
The purpose of this listing is for the guidance of students in selecting
support studies for the Minor in learning Disabilities.

Faculty of Education calendar changes (of a substantive nature)
are being made for the following reasons

The decision to specify the maximum number of
semester hours of credit in Education Special Topics
courses that may be included in a B .ED. degree program.
2.
The decision to change prerequisites for specified Upper
Division courses
Prerequisite: not less than 60 semester hours of credit

Victoria)
5. The revision of the Kinesiology Program
(Kinesiology courses are recommended [not required] for Minors
in Elementary School Physical Education, Early childhood Education,
Environmental Education, and Learning Disabilities. The Kinesiology
Program revision includes number, title and course description
changes)

The addition of a Secondary School Physical Education Major and
Minor (offered in cooperation with Kinesiology, Athletics and
Recreation).
Item #1, 2, and 3 have been approved by the Faculty of Education
.
(October
21 meeting) and by the Senate Committee on Undergraduate Studies (November
12 meeting). They should go to the December meeting of Senate for final
approval.
Item #4 goes to Faculty, Senate Committee on Undergraduate Studies and
Senate for information..
Item #5 and 6 require approval first by the Undergraduate Programs Committee
and the Faculty of Education, then by SCUS and finally by Senate before
Calendar changes will be made by the Registrar.
