GRADING PR4CTICS IN THE UNTY

MOTION:

"That Senate approve, as set forth in S.75-3, 

that the deadline for submission of the report 

on Grading Practices in the University be 

extended to the March meeting of Senate."

At the July 8th, meeting of Senate, the Senate 

Committee on Undergraduate Studies was directed to produce 

a report for the.January, 1975 meeting on Grading Practices 

in the University. 

Following initial discussions of the problem, a 

sub-committee was directed to draw up a preliminary report 

along lines suggested by this first consideration. This was 

done and the resulting report was discussed by the full 

Committee at a number of subsequent meetings. Following these 

discussions andmodification of the preliminary report, the 

modified proposal was transmitted to Deans of Faculties and 

to the Student Society for discussion by Faculty and Students. 

It will be impossible for this process to be completed and a 

final report to be written and discussed by SCUS before the 

deadline for submission of materials for the January Senate 

meeting. The Committee therefore requests that Senate extend 

its original deadline to permit the report on grading to be 

submitted to the March meeting.
