Our Clinical Chemistry Degree Program was approved through the
University committees and finally by Senate on 12th January, 1976. However,
the Program has not yet been approved by Universities Council and we are
advised that Council is now in the process of establishing a sub-committee
which will review all new program proposals. We are further advised that
it may be six months before a sub-committee is functional and thus before
our full program can go into effect.
Because of student interest and demand, the Chemistry Department
intends to offer. three of the new courses listed from the proposed Program
and these courses will be offered as 400 level upper-division electives to Honors
and Majors students in Chemistry and Biochemistry. These are the courses,
Chem 420-3, Clinical Chemistry I; Chem 423-3, Clinical Chemistry II; and
Chem 424-2, Clinical Chemistry Laboratory. Chem 420 has been offered previously
and is being offered again this semester in the evening through Continuing
Education with a present registration of 37 students. We intend to offer
its successor Chem 423 in Spring 77 and Chem 424 for the first time in Fall 77.
Please make the necessary arrangements to have these courses and
their descriptions entered in the University Calendar and in the next Course
Guide.
