That Senate approve a change in the prerequisite for

The motion contained in SCUS document 76-14 should be changed to read 

as follows: 

"That BICH 412-3, Enzymology Laboratory, be removed as a 

pre-requisite for BICH 413-2, Physical Biochemistry 

Laboratory and replaced with the statement - "Prerequisite: 

BICH 301, 302, 311 and 312. BICH 403 ordinarily will be 

taken concurrently, but may precede BICH 413."

The following motion was passed unopposed by the Faculty of Science 

its meeting of April 14, 1976: 

"That BICH 

412-3, 

Enzymology Laboratory, be removed as a 

pre-requisite for BICH 413-2, Physical Biochemistry Laboratory, 

and replaced with a statement that students registering in 

BICH 413-2 must have completed their third year and be in 

good standing in any fourth year courses." 

rationale for this motion is that B1CH 412 has little relation to 

BICH 413 and therefore need not be a pre-requisite. Also, students 

tend to put off taking BICH 413 until their last semester because of 

the funneling effect of the pre-requisites. This results in the 413 

class being crowded. 

This matter is herewith forwarded to SCUS for discussion.
