Course Outline
The specific topics considered in the course will vary from semester
to semester, depending upon current student and faculty interest. Topics
considered in 1975-3, when the course was given as BISC 859. "Special
Topics - Behavioural Ecology", were:
- ecological functions of aggregation
- nesting strategies in birds
- territorial behaviour
- predator searching tactics
- bird navigation
- brood parasitism
- motivation of prey-killing behaviour
- size selective predation
- habitat selection by marine invertebrates
- social organization of early man.
This is to be a seminar course, with the majority of the seminars
to be given by the graduate students.
