MOTION: "That Senate approve the structure established by the 

Board of Governors, as set forth in S.77-137, for the 

Presidential Search Committee:- 

a)

Two members of the Board plus the Chairman, or a 

member of the Board designated by the Chairman, 

with the Chairman or his designate serving as 

Chairman of the Committee 

b)

Three faculty members at large, elected by the 

faculty 

c)

Three Deans selected by the Deans, after the faculty 

members at large have been elected 

d)

Two undergraduate students at large, elected by the 

undergraduate student body; 

One graduate student at large, elected by the graduate 

student body 

e)

The President of the Student Society 

f)

The

President of the 

Faculty Association 

g)

The

President of the Alumni Association 

h)

One person elected by 

and from the full-time employees 

of the University who 

are not faculty members."

At its meeting of November 1, 1977, the Board of 

Governors approved the following structure for the 

Presidential Search Committee: 

(a)

Note: Election of the two undergraduate students is by and 

from the undergraduate students; of the graduate student 

is by and from the graduate students.

Would you place this on the agenda of Senate for its' 

approval at its meeting on December 5, 1977, in accordance 

with section 28(e) of the Universities Act which states 

that the Board of Governors has power 

"with the approval of the senate', to establish 

procedures for the 'recommendation and selection 

of candidates for president, deans.', librarians, 

registrar, and other senior, academic administrators as 

the board may designate." 

At its January meeting Senate will receive for its 

consideration and approval Board approved procedures for 

the recommendation and selection of a candidate.
