Rat i ona 1 e:
The Department wishes to make Canadian History availabl
to students at the 100 level and to encourage them to
take it as an introduction to the discipline of history
before they began to specialize in other fields of
history.
?
The numbers 101 and 102 have been chosen to
indicate this intention.
The Introductory History of Britain has been renumbered
to indicate to students that this is a course that
they could tackle in their initial semester.
The experience of the department has been that the number 199
frightened students away from the deaprtment's introductory
course in history method. Students assumed It to be close to
a 200 level course in degree of difficulty and therefore avoided
enrolling in it early in their careers and found It
too
