Program Change, Department of 

Criminology

.1976 

Action taken by the Senate Committee on Undergraduate 

Studies at its meeting of December 7, 1976 gives rise to the 

following motion: 

MOTION 

That Senate approve and recommend approval by the 

Board of Governors the Department of Criminology Program change 

as set forth in 

S.76-Ifl, 

specifically to modify the Upper Levels 

calendar statement to read: 

"The remainder is normally to be taken from courses 

listed below in Group B. For any given semester, 

the Criminology Department might add other relevant 

courses to those listed in Group B below." 

Note: This change is intended to enable Criminology majors to 

take advantage of especially relevant courses, particularly 

selected Topics, offered from time to time by other departments.

The Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies Undergraduate 

Curriculum Committee has approved the modifications set forth in the 

attached material (I. S.C. 76-36), and I am forwarding it to you for 

inclusion on the agenda of the Senate Committee on Undergraduate 

Studies.

Criminology Department

At its meeting this morning, the Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies 

Undergraduate Curriculum Committee approved the following change to 

the calendar entry for the Criminology Department. 

On page 28 1 

+ of the current University Calendar, the word "normally" 

is to be inserted in what is now the last sentence of the explanatory 

note under the section entitled "Upper Levels", so that the sentence 

will read: 

"The remainder is normally to be taken from courses 

listed below in Group B." 

Following that, a sentence is to be added that reads: 

$v-any given semester, the Criminology Department 

- might add other relevant courses to those listed in 

Group B below." 

This change has been reqested•in order tbatstudents majoring in 

criminology might be able to take advantage of especially relevant 

courses being offered from time to time by other departments (e.g., 

selected topics courses), and have the course(s) count towards the 

upper levels Group B requirements for a major in criminology.
