Acting in accordance with the authority delegated to it by 

Senate (578-10), the Senate Committee on Undergraduate Studies 

approved changes in prerequisites and descriptions for certain 

Fine and Performing Arts courses as outlined below and detailed 

in S78-141. In accordance with S78-1.0 these actions are being 

reported to Senate for information only.

The attached curriculum changes for the Centre for the Arts 

were approved at the October 24/78 meeting of the Faculty of 

Interdisciplinary Studies Undergraduate Curriculum Committee. 

No new courses are involved.

from my memo to you of October 12. I hope that your committee can act on 

these on October 24. 

1. FPA.237 - Change from: "Prerequisite:

3. The calendar description for the new courses FPA.321, 420 and 421 should 

be changed to make them consistent with FPA.220, 221 and 320. The new courses 

do not appear in the current calendar, but were approved by Senate in June, 

1978. The approved calendar. descriptions read: 

for 321: 

"Studio work designed to expand movement vocabulary, to explore creative 

and theoretical problem solving." 

for 420 and 421: 

"Studio work designed to expand movement vocabulary and to acquaint the 

student with various forms and styles of contemporary dance." 

All three should be changedto read: 

"Studio work designed to expand movement vocabulary and to acquaint the 

student with form and style in contemporary dance."
