MOTION 

That Senate approve and recommend to the 

Board of Governors that the wording of 

paragraph (d) of S.78-79 - Search Committee 

for a Vice-President, Academic be changed 

from: 

"(d) four faculty members elected by and 

from faculty members (one from each 

Faculty)"; 

to:

- ?

(d) four faculty members, one elected by and 

from each Faculty. 

RATIONALE: 

The existing wording has been interpreted to mean 

that the four faculty members on the Committee should be 

elected by the Faculties jointly. The possible effect of 

this interpretation is that one Faculty (Arts) because of 

its size, could well choose who would represent the smaller 

Faculties.. This is clearly contrary to the spirit of the 

original motion, which was that each Faculty should have 

representation of its own choosing.
