SA 303-4 Ethnic Conflicts
Course Outline
A sociological analysis of origins, expressions and solutions
of conflicts in major ethnically divided societies. Contentious
issues in education, political representation and labor policies
will be considered. Cultural mobilization as a response to
inequality, the d
ynamics
of nationalist and secessionist, move-
ments and preconditions of consociationalism in multi-nation
states will be explored.
Prerequisite: SA 203 or permission of instructor
