HIST 499-18 Honors Semester
A semester in which further reading and
research in a specialized area of study
will be undertaken. Conducted in close
co-operation with faculty, this 18 hour
"course" will culminate with the student
writing an Honors Essay, a work which shall
reflect on ability to analyse and synthesize
the events and literature of the specific
subject being considered.
RATIONALE
It has been the experience of the Department of
History that the option of completing honors
requirements in a single semester for 18 credit
hours imposes unrealistic demands on both
the honors students and faculty supervisors.
The option has seldom been chosen in the past
few years, and during the re-examination of
the entire curriculum the Undergraduate Studies
Committee decided to remove this
,
option from
the honors program.
