Action taken by the Senate Committee on Undergraduate Studies
at its meeting on November 21, 1978, gives rise to the following
motion:
MOTION
That Senate approve and recommend approval to the Board of
Governors the change in requirements for a Minor in Learning
Disabilities as set forth in S7- 3
Note: For students qualifying for a B.A., B.Sc.,.or B.G.S. degree
to have any Specific Education Minor recognized in their
degree programs and entered on official records, it is
presently required that they have successfully completed
the Professional Development Program (as well as the require-
ments for the Specific Minor; cf. page 244 in 1978/79 calendar).

The present proposal includes the removal of the suc-
cessful completion of the Professional Development Program
as a requirement to qualify for the Minor in Learning Dis-
abilities. In doing so, EDUC 401, Introduction to Classroom
Teaching and EDUC 402, Studies of Educational Theory and
Practice are being droppédas prerequisites for EDUC 422,
Learning Disabilities and EDUC 424, Learning Disabilities:
Laboratory. Other prerequisites have been substituted.

The Faculty of Education at its meeting of October 23, 1978 approved
changes to the calendar entries for Education 422-4 (Learning Disabilities),
Education 424-4 (Learning Disabilities: Laboratory) and the Minor in
Learning Disabilities as described on the attached "New Course Proposal
Forms" and the revised calendar entry for the Minor in Learning Disabilities.
Please include them on the agenda for the next meeting of the Senate
Committee on Undergraduate Studies.

REVISED CALENDAR ENTRY FOR THE LEARNING DISABILITIES MINOR
The Minor in Learning Disabilities is designed to enhance a student's
understanding of learning disabilities and to provide competence in the
identification and non-clinical treatment of learning disabilities.
Prerequisites
It is strongly recommended that a prospective student complete at least
two of the following courses during his lower levels. Courses should be
selected to insure that upper levels course prerequisites are satisfied.
