Action undertaken by the Senate Committee on Undergraduate Studies 

at its meeting of November 9, 1982 gives rise to the following motion:- 

"That Senate approve and recommend approval to the Board of 

Governors, as set forth in S.82-127, the 

Discontinuation of CMNS 340-3 - The Political Economy of the Radio 

Spectrum and Telecommunication II 

CMNS 336-3 - Social Change and Community Media"

Acting under delegated authority at its meeting of November 9, 1982 

the Senate Committee on Undergraduate Studies approved changes in Communication

The attached curriculum changes from the Department of 

Communication were reviewed and approved at a meeting of the 

Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies Undergraduate Curriculum 

Committee held on Tuesday, October 26, 1982. Would you please 

place this item on the next agenda of the Senate Committee on 

Undergraduate Studies for consideration.

personnel, we propose to drop CMNS 

340_3, 

The Political Economy of 

the Radio Spectrum and Telecommunication II, and 

Q1JS 

336-3, Social 

Change and Community Media, from the calendar. We anticipate 

bringing forward a proposal which will combine some elements from 

CMNS 336-3 with a restructuring of our two video production courses, 

CMNS 257-3, Explorations in Video, and CMNS 357-3

Video Techniques 

and Applications. Our purpose in bringing such a proposal forward 

is to provide opportunities for our students in media production and 

recognition of the skills and perspectives which they gain through 

practically oriented courses.
