..........
STRUCTURE IN CRIMINOLOGY.- FOR SPRING
Date.. .

5.
Action undertaken by the Senate Committee on Undergraduate Studies
at its meeting of September 14, 1982 gives rise to the following motion:-
MOTION:
"That Senate approve and recommend approval to the Board
of Governors, as set forth in S.82-97 , that the change in
the lower level elective structure for Criminology be made
effective in the Spring semester 1983-1."
Senate and the Board of Governors have approved the change proposed,
but as there was not direct indication of effective date that normally
• ?
would be for September, 1983 although the intent of the Department was
for September, 1982 but too late for inclusion in calendar.
?
This
motion is designed to provide earlier implementation to improve the
program.

MEMORANDUM
The Criminology U.C.C. is requesting that the next meeting of

semester.

CHANGE OF LOWER LEVEL ELECTIVE STRUCTURE
Nature of Proposed Change. The number of Group A elective
courses would be increased by one course for a total of
two Group A electives. The number of general electives
would be reduced by one course yielding a total of five
general electives. Overall, the total of lower level
course types would be as follows:
Group A:
?
6 required + 2 elective courses
Group B:
?
5 required + 2 elective courses
Other:
?
5 elective courses
Rationale: ?
It was the
intention
of the Criminology U.C.C.
to have the above change formalized in the
1982-83 calendar. However several last minute
changes relating to the statistics and other
requirements led to an oversight in this regard.
In order to provide the necessary breadth of
lower level Group A optional courses, it is
our intention that criminology students be
required to take one additional Group A elective.
