Limitation on EnroilTent
Action taken by the Senate Committee on Academic P1nniig at its
meeting of Wednesday, January 13, 1982, gives rise to the following notion:-
btion: That Senate approve and recommend to the Board
of Governors that the Department of Business Administration
and the Department of Computing Science be permitted to
suspend for a period of one year beginning 1 March, 1982
admission to extended studies diplomas centered in their
departments."
A number of enr1nent restrictions have been approved for the
Departsrent of Business Administration and for the Department of Computing
Science with strong competition for admission to a number of courses.
Approval of the proposal would provide a more equitable mechanism than
exists under current regulations as diploma students are granted a high
priority. The limitations on space necessitate this action.
The Chairman of the Senate Coninittee on Academic Planning has
been instructed, in cooperation with the Chairman of the Senate ColTirlittee
on Undergraduate Studies., to establish an ad hoc committee to review the
basis and operation of the Undergraduate Igistration Priority System.
It is proposed that a small cxrrrnittee be established to give consideration
to the present system to nake appropriate modifications in the light of
present experience and current circumstances.
