Date.
OCTOBER 15, 1981
Action undertaken by the Senate Committee on Undergraduate Studies
at its meeting of October 6, 1981 gives rise to the following motion:
MOTION:
?
That Senate approve and recommend approval to the Board
of Governors, as set forth in S.81-144, the proposed
changes to Regulations, Multiple Undergraduate Degrees,
S.81-65, Section 5d, as follows:
From: Otherwise, general faculty and departmental
regulations apply, except that students enrolled
in further degrees are not required to complete
group requirements.
To:
?
General faculty and department regulations apply,
including completion of any group requirements
not completed in a previous degree.
Background Information: In discussion it was noted that the original submission
from a sub-committee of SCUS had been made through SCUS and approved by Senate
that for those with a first degree the requirements for a second degree might be
relaxed somewhat in respect of group requirements to reduce overall technical
requirements with increased credit demand. On further consideration the Faculty
of Arts indicated desire and intent to retain its normal group requirements on a
further degree unless completed in earlier work. With minor opposition this
position was accepted by the Committee.
