The Senate Graduate Studies Committee acts with delegated power from

Senate to:-

Approve:

1.

Recommendations for Admission under Special Arrangements. Of the

fifteen applications considered, fourteen were accepted and one

withdrew.

2.

Hearing of a graduate student appeal under General Regulations

1.8.2. The student requested that the notation "Required to

Withdraw" be deleted from his transcript. The appeal was

rejected.

3.

Changes in the General Regulations for Graduate Studies. Changes

were made in the following regulations:

1.9.5 The Role of an External Examiner

If the External Examiner is unable to attend the student's

oral defence, the defence can be conducted by conference

telephone or

in

absentia with the approval of the Dean of

Graduate Studies..

1.12.3 Readmission

Under exceptional circumstances and with the recommendation

of the Departmental Graduate Studies Committee, a student

who has exceeded the time limit for completion of the degree,

may be readmitted for one semester only to complete the degree

requirements. The student would be assessed the higher

graduate tuition fee.
