September 19, 1980
Date
..............................................................................................
The graduate colloquium will be coordinated by one faculty member
and will have other faculty invited to participate. Students and
faculty will give presentations. The primary objective is to develop
continuing discussion among students and faculty of current communica-
tions literature and research, beyond the ,specific topics of theses
underway. It is required once for all students before graduation.
There exists at present GHNS 856-5, the graduate seminar, which is
not required and which is principally used by professors for graduate
courses prior to approval of more specific course proposals. Thus
CMNS 856-5 is not appropriate to the primary objective of this proposed
course CNNS 860-2.
The rationale for this required, S/li course, is to facilitate an
exchange of ideas in a large and growing graduate program and to keep
abreast of a growing volume of research and publications.
