Action undertaken by the Senate Committee on Undergraduate
Studies at its meeting of November 4, 1980 gives rise to the follow-
ing motion:

"That Senate approve and recommend approval to the
Board of Governors, as set forth in S.80-157, the
following changes:
1) Program change:
Add PHYS 102-3 - General Physics II as lower
division required course
ii) Change requirements fora Minor in Kinesiology."

At a meeting of the Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies Under-
graduate Curriculum Committee held on Tuesday, October 21, 1980, members
of the Committee discussed and approved the curriculum changes set forth
in the attached paper.
It was noted that PHYS 102-3, General Physics II, is being added
as a required lower
u
course. In addition, it was noted that should
FPA 326-3, History of Dance, be removed from the Calendar, editorial
changes would be required in the requirements for a Minor in Kinesiology
(see Item 7 attached).
Would you please place these curriculum changes on the next agenda
of the Senate Committee on Undergraduate Studies.

The Department of Kinesiology has approved the following
changes relating to the undergraduate Curriculum and I am
forwarding them to the Faculty Undergraduate Curriculum
Committee for future consideration.
1)
Add Kin 100-3 Introduction to Human Structure and
Function as a prerequisite for Kin 220-3. Human Foods
and Nutrition.
2)
Kin 142-3 Introduction to Kinesiology as prerequisite
for Kin 241-3 Sports Injuries instead of Kin 143-3
Exercise management.
3)
Add Kin 142-3 as a prerequisite for Kin 326-3 Functional
Anatomy
4)
Add Kin 143-3 as a prerequisite for Kin 341-3 Sports
Medicine I
5)
Remove Kin 375-3 as a
prerequisite
for Kin 343-3
Fitness Appraisal and Guidance
6)
Add Phys 102-3 General Physics II as a required lower level
course and as prerequisites to Kin 401-4 Biomechanics and
Kin 442-3 Biomedical Systems
7)
Change requirements for a minor in Kinesiology from:

The basic requirements will be (a) Kin 100-3,
(b) 21
hours additional course work in the Kinesiology.

the purpose of meeting these requirements, the
Dance courses FPA 120-3, 220-3, 324-3 and 326-3
may be treated as Kinesiology courses. Students
using this Minor. in preparation for teaching

Education (See Section 9 of this Calendar).

I would like to inform you that recent changes due to the new Dance M&or
have made FPA. 220-3, a course open by audition only.
?

You may wish to adjust your Kinesiology requirements (p.272 University
Calendar)
accordingly. I suggest that FPA. 120-3, and FPA.
121-3,
are
more appropriate
to the Kinesiology students interested in entering the P.D.P. . These are open
entry courses.
One of your majors, Brian Mortinson, was ineligible for entry into FPA 220
which makes it impossible for him to complete his requirements.
