SECRETARY OF SENATE
ADDITION TO AGENDA, NOVEMBER 3, 1980
Subject.......
ELECTION
OFFACULTYNEMBERSTOSAB............Date......OCTOBER30.1980
At the present time there are no faculty members on the Senate
Appeals Board. For the October meeting of Senate no nominations were re-
ceived from the Nominating Committee nor from individual Senators. The
Nominating Committee was again requested to bring forward nominations but
the delay under usual Senate procedures until December would create undue
hardship for appellants and the Committee members.
It is intended that this election topic be added to the open
session agenda for Monday, November 3, under Item 5, Reports of Committees,
as item 1), with the present i) to become ii), etc.
The Nominating Committee has submitted nominations as follows:
SENATE APPEALS BOARD (SAB)
One faculty Senator and one faculty Senator alternate to replace J. C. Irwin
and L. Resnick, from date of election for no specified term of office.
For the faculty Senator position ?
N. L. BOWMAN
For the fcult
r— S'enator alternate position ?
P. L. WAGNER
It is intended that individual Senators have the usual right to add
a name or names to those nominations from. the Nominating Committee and that in
this instance such nominations may be made at Senate. Nominators must know
that any person being nominated is prepared to be a candidate and to fulfil the
position if elected. This notice is being distributed in advance of meeting to
give members opportunity to be prepared to add nominations if desired.
Assuming this topic is added to the agenda as proposed, then to permit
of such nominations and for the election to proceed, motion will be made as
follows when the agenda topic is reached.
MOTION: "That Senate suspend the rules that interfere with consideration
of this election topic at this time and that interfere with
nominations being made at Senate."
To pass this motion requires a 2/3 vote in favor, of those present
and voting.
If approved, further nominations then can be made from the floor, or
the elections can be completed by acclamation.
