At its meeting of 3 June 1980 the Senate Committee on
Undergraduate Studies, acting under authority dele
gated to
it by Senate, approved a change in the credit hour value of
CN.S. 400/401 (Interdisciplinary Seminar Selected Canadian
Subjects) from 5 to 3 semester hours, effective from September
1980 (80-3)
Note-
The Secretary informed the Dean of Interdisciplinary
Studies that should it be impossible to effect the change
in credit hours without a change in course numbers the latter
action might have to be taken. However, every effort would
be made to accommodate the change as approved by SCUS.

Re: ?
Change
of credit-hours, ?
CN.S 400/401-5.
I.S.C.
80-5.
Attached is a request from the Centre for Canadian Studies for a
change in the credit-hour value for CN.S 400/401 from five (5)
credit-hours to three (3) credit hours, effective in September,
1980 (80-3). This change is seen as a transitional measure; the
new Canadian Studies curriculum should be in effect in May, 1981.
Course content will be designed to conform with the three (3)
credit-hour value.
The above change was approved by the Faculty of Interdisciplinary
Studies Undergraduate Curriculum Committee at a meeting held on
May 13th, 1980. Would you please place this item on the next
agenda of the Senate Committee on Undergraduate Studies for that
committee's consideration.

N.S 400/401-5
The Universities Council of B. C. has approved the new Canadian Studies curriculum,
which is based on a pattern of 3-hour courses at both the upper and lower division
level. However, it appears now that the new program may not be put into effect
until May 1981, for budgetary reasons.
In order to fit the work of students currently in the program to the new pattern
of courses, the Centre for Canadian Studies has planned and scheduled all of its
upper division courses from Fall 1980 on as 3-hour courses. To accommodate this
pattern before the new program takes effect, it is necessair to drop the credit-
hour rating for the currently used C . S
400/401
courses frm
5
hours to 3 hours.
