The Faculty of Arts Curriculum Committee at its meeting of April 10,
1980, approved ARC. 334-3: Special Topics in Archaeology III, for permanent
inclusion in the calendar. At the May 8, 1980 meeting the Committee approved
ARC 332-3: Special Topics in Archaeology I, for permanent inclusion in the
calendar. Because of these additional courses it was necessary to change the
titles of ARC. 333-3 and ARC. 335-3 so that the sequence was maintained. Please
place them on the agenda of the next meeting of S.C.U.S. Thank you.

Attached is a new course proposal for Arc.
334
(Special
Topics III).
We do have a special topics course at the present, Arc.
333. However, we find that we require more than one since only
one course of each number can be offered per semester. In the
Spring Semester, 1981 we are offering two Special Topics
Courses hence the need for adding this new course.
I would anticipate that we will use both Special Topics
courses regularly as these courses are very well received by
students and are always well attended.

In the Spring of 1981, the Department of Archaeology
:
is offering
three special topics courses. We need these extra Special Topics Courses
so as to take advantage of visiting faculty who will replace our own
faculty who are away during the Spring 1981 Semester; two on research
leave and one on sabbatical.
We will therefore require that two more special topics course
numbers be added to the curriculum in addition to the one already in use.
These are: Arc. 332-3, 334-3, Arc. 333-3 is already in use.
As you will note on page 98 of the rw (1980-81) calendar, Arc. 333-3
may be substituted for any of the Archaeology group requirements, but
written consent of the Department prior to registration is required.
Arc. 332-3 and 334-4 will also be regarded in this manner.
