The Women's Studies Coordinating Committee approved the following change 

at its meeting of 25 October 1984: 

Change in prerequisite - W.S. 401-5, Research Project 

FROM: W.S. 100 and any two 200 numbered Women's Studies courses.

W.S. 100 and any two 200-division Women's Studies courses; permission of? 

instructor; approval of project proposal by Coordinating Committee. 

Rationale: 

The 1983/84 edition of the Calendar required permission of the instructor and 

the Coordinating Committee as well as completion of W.S. 100 and two 200 

numbered courses. Requirement for permission of instructor and Coordinating 

Committee was deleted from the 1984/85 edition of the Calendar in error, and 

the deletion was approved by FISC. We now wish to restore the original 

prerequisite. (The additiOn of the words "project proposal" is editorial, 

as it reflects the long-standing practice of the Program.)

Women in Cross-Cultural Perspective 

Rationale: W.S. 200 (current Calendar description below) has always had a 

cross-cultural perspective. The proposed course title more accurately 

reflects course content. 

Current Calendar description: Follows from W.S. 100-4 and takes up in more 

detail a variety of the issues raised there. The focus will be on the 

situation of women in cross-cultural perspective using literary, historical, 

anthropological and other appropriate sources.
