The above-mentioned course was approved by SCUS at its meeting
of November 2, 1982 and by Senate at its meeting of December 6, 1982.
Request later followed for permission to first offer this course in
Summer semester 83-2 and the Senate Committee on Undergraduate Studies
granted the waiver at its meeting of March 8, 1983.

During 1982-3 S.C.U.S. passed a new course proposal - Education 1+81-4
French Immersion and Programme-Cadre de Franais. I did not
seek a waiver of the regulation governing the delay before first
offering the course. Since then the Faculty of Education has
been chosen as the site for the 1983 Summer Institute for French
Education funded by the Ministy of Education. This is a considerable
honor, carrying, appropriately, a considerable budget to support
it. Students will come from across Canada. A part of the program
of the Institute will be two credit courses in the teaching of
French. One of these should be Education 481. I request that I
be granted a waiver of the requirement to delay offering a new
course for two full semesters.
