Action undertaken by the Senate Committee on Undergraduate Studies

at its meeting of December 14, 1982 gives rise to the following ntion:-

MOT ION:

"That Senate approve and recommend approval to the Board of

Governors, as set forth in S.83 - 4 , that when a student

drops or withdraws after the first week of classes from

either BUS. 421 or BUS. 424, that student should lose

priority for admission to that course in each of the two

subsequent semesters.

In extenuating circumstances, this regulation may be

waived by the Faculty following written appeal made at the

time of withdrawal."

Information was provided to the effect that there is a heavy demand

in accounting courses and relatively high dropout early in these two courses.

The Faculty desires better controls particularly with reference to these two

courses but will also learn from the experience whether similar measures should

be contemplated for certain other courses. These two courses constitute

a bottleneck in the flow through the accounting program and better utilization

is needed.

The Faculty of Business Administration Curriculum Committee at its

meeting of November 16th approved the following resolution:

When a student drops or withdraws after the

first week of classes from either Bus. 421

or Bus. 424, that student should lose

priority for admission to that course in

each of the two subsequent semesters.

In extenuating circumstances, this regulation

may be waived by the Faculty following

written appeal made at the time of withdrawal.

Will you please place this resolution on the agenda of the next

meeting of SCUS. It is requested that implementation date will be

summer semester, 83-2.
