"That Senate approve and recommend approval to the Board of
Governors, as set forth in

the proposed change
in the last sentence of the first paragraph of Section 1
of the Ph.D. degree requirements:
From: Students specializing in Economics must include
Econ 804-4 and Econ 806-4 as part of their course
work.
To: ?
Students specializing in Economics must include
Econ 803-3, 804-4 and 806-4 as part of their course
work.
and delete Econ 803-3 from the Admission Requirements"

These changes are proposed so as to ensure a uniform standard in
microeconomics among our Ph.D. candidates. Past experience suggests
that granting credit for"equivalent" courses offered elsewhere has
not been satisfactory for either the students or the Department.
