The study of the Quaternary (the last 2 million years of the earths
history) involves a broad group of disciplines ranging from biology,
climatology, archaeolog

to surficial geology. This Minor enables students
to obtain a background in Quaternary Studies through course work in
various disciplines offered through regular departments in the Faculties of
Science and Arts.

I am providing herewith a copy of the proposed Minor Program in Humanities
which has been submitted from the Faculty of Arts. As this constitutes a
new program (new Minor) , it requires consideration by the Senate Committee on
Academic Planning.

In view of time constraints, the proposal was submitted to SCUS for consideration,

pending a meeting of SCAP. Subject to the proposal being approved by SCAP,
SCUS has approved the proposed program and the proposed new courses.
Attached is a copy of the type of transmittal memo which would have gone
forward from SCUS to Senate had the proposal already been approved by SCAP.
Since it has not been approved by SCAP, there will he no transmittal memo unti.1
SCAP consideration.
In the event that SCAP does approve the proposal, then a transmittal memo to
Senate will be required and should constitute a memo from SCAP/SCIJS jointly
including the types of items shown on the attached memo.
Would you please arrange to place this item on the agenda for SCAP consideration.
Following consideration at SCAP, please discuss with me the proposed transmittal
memo to Senate, if the program is approved at SCAP.
