Action undertaken by the Senate Graduate Studies Committee at its

Meeting on November 12, 1985, gives rise to the following motion:

MOTION:

"That Senate approve and recommend approval to the

Board of Governors, as set forth in S.85-62

the proposed addition to the Graduate Calendar for

the School of Computing Science:-

Admission from a Master's program to the Ph.D. program

The School does not encourage students to proceed to a

Ph.D. without first obtaining an M.Sc.,; however, a

student who so desires may be admitted from an M.Sc.

program to a Ph.D. program after having completed all

of the courses required for the M.Sc. with a minimum

CGPA of 3.5 and with the approval of the student's

Supervisory Committee and the Director of the School

of Computing Science. Application to change programs

will be processed in the same manner as other applications

for admission to the Ph.D. program."
