...................................
The Graduate Program Committee of the Faculty of Business Administration
has passed motions as follows:
The Calendar entry for Fields of Gbncentration be modified as fol-
lows:
1.
"Accounting and Management Information Systems" be renamed
"Accounting" and that "Management Science" be renamed
"Management Science and Information Systems".
2.
That Bus. 876 Decision Support Systems, be added to the
list of field courses for Management Science.
3.
That BUEC 823 Business and Economic Forecasting, be removed
from the list of field courses for Management Science but
that ?
it be considered an acceptable course in fulfilling
the Research Methods requirements.
Rationale:
The
faculty in Management Information Systems (MIS) are consider-
ed
part of the Management Science area,
?
courses are scheduled
by
the area coordinator,
?
and the focus of courses is closer
to
Management Science than it is to Accounting.
?
At present,
Bus.
876 is the only MIS course offered in the day program.
It
will remain acceptable as a field course in both Accounting
and
Management Science and Information Systems.
The forecasting courses, BUEC 823, is considered somewhat out
of the mainstream of the content area of Management Science,
and more appropriately regarded as a course focusing on a par-
ticular set of research methods.
