The outcomes of the meetings are summarized on the attached table. 

On 19 March 1985, the Board met to review transcripts of students who 

had been considered by the Board in previous years. The Board noted 

relatively poor subsequent performances of students readmitted under 

appeal or granted retroactive withdrawal when the student's cgpa was 

low or marginal. Fewer appeals were considered by the Board in 1985 

compared with 1984, but many straightforward appeals are handled by 

the Board Secretary without reference to the Board, and it is not 

clear whether the overall total of appeals is also down. 

The Senate Appeals Board continued to function effectively in 1985. 

This success can be attributed to the conscientiousness of its 

Chairperson and members and their willingness to devote many hours to 

hearing the pleas of appellants.
