At its meeting of December 7, 1984, the Chemistry Department approved the
deletion of the following courses:
1.
NUSC.446-2 - Nuclear Chemistry Laboratory, effective September, 1985.
Rationale: Low enrolment.
Some of the experiments will be incorporated in NUSC.346 and CHEM.367.
This deletion will reduce the number of upper-division credits available
for the NUSC Minor from 28 to 26 (mm. requirement: 14).
2. CHEM.420-3, 423-3 and 424-2: Clinical Chemistry. Rationale: CHEM.424 has
never been offered, while CHEM.423 and 424 were taught by adjunct
professors whose positions have been eliminated during the recent budget
cuts.
3.
CHEM.483-15: Individual Study Semester. Rationale: Over-specialization,
large variability in standards, grade and credit inflation. CHEM.481-5
(Undergraduate Research) fulfills the research function more adequately and
will be required of all Chemistry Honours students.
