REPORT TO SENATE OF THE ACTIVITIES OF THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE, SENATE GRADUATE STUDIES
COMMITTEE FROM JANUARY 1984 TO DECEMBER 1984:-
Number of Meetings - Six (6)
The Executive Committee acted with delegated power from the Senate Graduate Studies
Committee to:-
APPROVE:
1.
Recommendations for the award of graduate degrees in 1984: 255 graduate degrees
were approved.
2.
Recommendations for Admission involving substantial doubt. One recommendation
was considered and approved.
3.
New graduate courses. There were 10 new courses approved; three in Mathematics,
one in Biological Sciences, three in Kinesiology, one in Education and two in
. ?
Business Administration. There were two courses deleted; one in Education and
one in Natural Resources. There was a change in title and description for Kines
850 and MRM 644. Prerequisities were added for Educ 871, 874 and MRM 602, 612,
634, 646 and 651. There was a description change for Educ 870 and 871.
4.
Graduate Curriculum changes were approved for the Department of Sociology and
Anthropology.
5.
Short courses sponsored by the Western Canadian Deans of Graduate Studies which
carry one semester hours' credit was approved.
6.
Approval of changes in the General Regulations - Graduate Studies.
APPROVE:
Authority delegated to the Dean of Graduate Studies by the Executive Committee of the
Senate Graduate Studies Committee:-
- 1. Recommendations for Admission meeting University requirements.
2.
Recommendations to approve credit for courses taken at another institution.
3.
Recommendations to complete courses at another institution for credit at SFIJ.
4.
Approval of recommendations for extensions.
5. Approval of Master's Examining Committees.
6.
Approval of Ph.D. Examining Committees.
7.
Approval of Supervisory Committee membership and changes.
