REPORT TO SENATE OF THE ACTIVITIES OF THE SENATE GRADUATE STUDIES COMMITTEE
FROM JANUARY 1984 TO DECEMBER 1984.
Number of Meetings - Eight (8)
The Senate Graduate Studies Committee acted with delegated power from Senate to:-
APPROVE:
1.
Recommendations for Admission under Special Arrangements. Eight recommendations
were considered. Seven were approved and one was referred back for further
documentation.
2.
The Committee approved that the Director of the Master of Natural Resu: ..
Management Programme, as de facto Chairman, be a voting member of the Senate
. ?
Graduate Studies Committee.
3.
Graduate Curriculum changes for the Department of Sociology and Anthropology
were approved.
4.
New Programmes - M.Sc. (Statistics)
Ph.D. (Criminology)
Both programmes were approved.
5.
The Committee approved the accommodation of MRN Program & Depts. of Computing Science,
Communications and Kinesiology within the Faculty of Applied Science; the accom-
odation of the Department of Criminology as a School of Criminology in the Faculty
of Arts; the accommodation of the Women's Studies Programme in the Faculty of Arts.
6.
Approved the proposal that the M.A. and Ph.D. programmes in German and Russian
be discontinued; also, that all existing graduate courses in German and Russian
be discontinued as ofAugust3i; 1985.
