Action undertaken by the Executive Committee, Senate Graduate Studies Committee
at its meeting of January 21,
1985
and action undertaken by the Senate Graduate
Studies Committee at its meeting of February
14,
1985,
gives rise to the following
motion:-
MOTION:
"That Senate approve and recommend approval to the Board
of Governors, as set forth in S.85-7
?
, the proposed
change in Section 1.7.2 of the Graduate Studies - General
Regulations"
FROM: One-half of the minimum must be taken at SFU
TO: ?
One-half of the minimum course work of the
departmental degree requirements must be taken
at SFU
RATIONALE:
The minimum" referred to in the current General Regulations
is in the constraint for transfer credit within either the
twelve (12) or twenty (20) semester hours. However, as
many departments have varying degree requirements higher
than the University requirement, it was felt that the
minimum should refer to one half of the departmental degree
requirement to permit a student to transfer the maximum
amount of coursework permitted and to have equitability
across the departments.
