Thank you for your memorandum of January 13 requesting some minor
changes to the various "scholarship and awards committees".
Timing for submission of reports is included among the responsibilities of
the Committee as approved by Senate, and consequently a change to that
item would require Senate action. You have provided the rationale for the
requested change so I would anticipate that SCAR will forward the
recommendation to the next meeting of Senate. I would recommend that
we aim for reporting at the June meeting since Senate has seldom met
during the months of July and August. I gathered from the memorandum
that June reporting would be a realistic objective.
The other two requests would be purely editorial since they are implied by
the titles of the respective adjudicating committees.
I'll keep you informed of the outcome.

SIMON FRASER UNIVERSITY
MEMORANDUM
Regarding the section of Committee listings pertaining to the three committees for
which I am secretary, pages 26- 31 inclusive, in your compendium entitled, Committee
Listings - dated November 9, 1987. I would like to request that you make the following
minor adjustments:
1.
On page 26, under Responsibilities, #6-I would suggest that the deadline date bà
either June or, preferably, July. Budget year end is March 31, final reconciliation
of accounts through Finance are normally not completed until the last week of April
or first week of May; our office must then develop a report based upon budget
information and statistics which are reconciled through our committee minutes to
the revised figures we receive from Finance. Our report must then go to SCAR
prior to the Senate meeting.
