With the announcement by Dr. Thomas W. Calvert that he will be taking a
leave of absence from the University and will not be seeking reappointment as
Vice President Research and Information Systems, Terms of Reference for a
Selection Committee to advise the President on the choice of his replacement are
urgently required. Since the incumbent will not be a candidate, review and
reappointment procedures need not be addressed immediately. However, the
administration will return in due course with recommended procedures for the
review and reappointment of incumbents both in this position and the position of
Provost and Vice President, Academic.
In the case of the Vice President Research and Information Systems,
Search Committee membership and its Terms of Reference are essentially the
same as for the Provost and Vice President, Academic. The position may be
renamed at a later date to emphasize that research is the primary concern within
the portfolio.

THE VICE-PRESIDENT RESEARCH AND
INFORMATION SYSTEMS
1. A Search Committee shall be established and shall be composed of the
following members:
(a) the President as Chair
(b)
the Provost and Vice President, Academic
(c)
three Deans selected by the Deans
(d)
five faculty members, one elected by and from the respective
faculties of Applied Sciences, Arts, Business Administration,
