Due to an oversight we didn't submit a graduate course proposal form for the
new field examinations option in our M.A. program. Originally we intended

substitute the field examinations option for the previously existing
extended essays (998) into the same course no. 998 but we now realize that
this would create other problems for students. We request that 998 be
dropped from the calendar and be replaced by M.A. Field Examinations:
