Senate Attendance

For the two Senate term years of June 1990-May 1991 and June 1991-May 1992, there

were 12 instances where elected Senators had missed three or more consecutive

meetings, and 4 instances where elected Senators had missed four or more

consecutive meetings (includes those with three or more). It should be noted that, in

some of these cases at least, absence was the result of illness or teaching schedules or

class commitments over a semester.

Given that there were such few instances, the Senate Committee on Agenda and Rules

was of the opinion that an additional rule for Senate with regard to meeting attendance

was not necessary.
