The current required course, MRM 642, is Regional Planning. This course
applies, in a regional context, the more generic methods of policy making and
problem solving covered in our current elective course, MRM 644, Public Policy

 
Analysis. Because we require our graduates to obtain a working knowledge of these
methods m some context, it is appropriate to permit them to take either course
(MRM 642
or
MRM 644) to meet that requirement Currently, they are all forced
to take
MRM
642, which is too specific for some students' needs.
Course descriptions
MRM

Regional Planning
Theory and techniques of regional analysis; planning models and
their application to key resource sectors.
MRM 644-5 Public Policy Analysis
Analysis of methods of policy making and problem solving with
particular emphasis on natural resource issues. Topics include goal
setting, problem definition, program scheduling, policy evaluation,
policy implementation and public administration. A practical
analysis of the structure and processes surrounding major
contemporary policy issues.
